Frequently asked questions

Who are your students?

I work with driven, self-motivated 10th-12th graders who want knowledge about the process (such as schools to consider, whether to apply Early Decision, essay brainstorming, etc). Most of my students are aiming for selective universities.

Do you meet with students in person or virtually?

I work with students virtually, as this allows the greatest flexibility for students.

How do you involve parents in this process?

While I primarily interface with students, I keep parents informed around key milestones and decisions.

Can you guarantee admission to a certain school?

No, and ethically, no one can. What I do offer is guidance on how to put your best foot forward by helping you understand what makes you stand out.

What makes your approach different?

My philosophy is that students should drive their own college application processes -- my role is to provide information so students can apply to the right schools for them and craft the best possible applications. I trust each student to stay on top of deadlines, schedule meetings with me, and come to our meetings with questions. During meetings, I combine real talk, strategic insight, and a down-to-earth style.

Why work with you instead of just using generative AI?

Generative AI is an excellent starting point, but it can’t replace personalized expertise. Not only do I provide the most up-to-date and accurate information, but I also identify and correct gaps in assumptions or understanding as they arise. I tailor my recommendations to the student’s unique personality, goals, and strengths, which AI can’t do with true empathy or lived experience.

Why is your name "Prospera"?

Because I think college can and should serve as a gateway for students to become their best selves, personally and financially. College is a time for exploring interesting classes, discovering new interests, and finding your people. Post-college is a time to set yourself up for financial success, whatever that may mean to you.
